A. OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB
As part of the Management Team, the co-Director of Partnerships & Communications (DPC) is co-responsible for the management, strategy and results of Mama Cash. The co-DPC is responsible for achieving the fundraising objectives in Mama Cash’s strategic plan. The purpose of the position is to contribute to Mama Cash’s overall mission and sustainability by sustaining and expanding funding for Mama Cash, and stimulating individual and institutional donors to become supporters of Mama Cash.
The co-DPC has direct management of two of the four functional areas of the team: institutional and individual donor fundraising and has two direct reports, supervising the Senior Officer for Philanthropic Partnerships (inst. donor fundraising), and Senior Individual Donor Relations officer; each senior officer leads their own sub-team.
B. RESULT AREAS
1. Develop vision, strategy and plans for Mama Cash’s fundraising efforts
- Leads on implementation of the vision for Mama Cash’s fundraising efforts.
- Leads the implementation of strategies to achieve fundraising goals as laid out in strategic and annual plans.
- Working closely with the Senior PP and IDR officers, develops and oversees implementation of the fundraising annual plans including ambitious target setting, and writes other (strategic) planning documents as needed.
- Expands and diversifies strategies to identify, educate, involve, and cultivate existing and prospective donors (institutional and individual).
- Contributes to and rolls out HNWI strategy.
- Leads on HNWI prospecting work, generating new leads to the pipeline and developing solicitation plans (with focus on the USA-based donors).
- Leads the development of growth plans for Mama Cash, through close collaboration with institutional donors, high-net wealth individuals and private funders and by providing support on opportunities to ensure high quality, cohesive proposals, and reports.
- Represents Mama Cash externally during events and other fora.
Result: realisation of the desired financial resources in accordance with planned objectives of the Strategic Guide and (bi)-annual plans and higher rates of supporter engagement and an increase in overall numbers of supporters and donors.
C. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Strong commitment to Mama Cash’s vision, mission and values including intersectional feminism, JEDI (justice, equity, diversity and inclusion) principles, environmental justice, and the rights of intersex people, trans people, girls and women.
- Masters level degree or equivalent knowledge of marketing, business development, fundraising or a relevant and related field.
- Knowledge of international development, human rights, social justice, environmental justice and/or (funding) feminist movements.
- Leadership, management and team-building skills; ability to work (remotely) with professionals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strategic planning, problem solving and project management skills including the ability to stay focused on details, deadlines and delivery.
- Knowledge of (international) donor funding and philanthropy sectors. Particular knowledge and experience with HNWI and philanthropic sector in the USA is preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant developments and trends and the ability to translate and implement these into actionable plans.
- Skills in managing large budgets.
- Relationship building skills, demonstrable skills in solicitation and successful track record with individual donors (focus on HNWI) and of developing and implementing strategic (individual) fundraising plans.
- Communications, negotiation and interpersonal skills (verbal and written, English proficiency) with the ability to interact with people from a wide diversity of backgrounds and cultures.
- Lived experience of resisting injustice and different forms of systemic oppression including but not limited to sexism, racism, homo-antagonism, trans-antagonism, classism and/or disablism, and their intersections.
D. WHAT WE OFFER
We offer an engaging and professional work environment in an international foundation committed to diversity, solidarity, peace and justice. The monthly fulltime (36 hours per week) salary for this position depends upon experience and is based on CAO Sociaal Werk, scale 13 (min.) € 4.907,- and maximum €8.691,- plus 8% vacation, 13th month, and pension plan. Our office is centrally located in Amsterdam.
We work on a hybrid model between home and the office in Amsterdam.
